We are thrilled to announce that Emily Dunkle, GEHS Teacher of the Year, has been named the 2024-25 GCS County Teacher of the Year! As an Agriculture teacher at Greenbrier East High School, she goes above and beyond for her students. Recently also named as the WVDE New CTE Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Dunkle serves as the FFA Advisor, helps during the summer with the Ham Bacon & Egg Sale, and is partnering with the National Fish Hatchery to build Mallord Duck Housing. Her dedication to career exploration, inspiring students, and promoting agriculture education is unmatched. We are grateful for Emily Dunkle's positive influence on GCS students and celebrate her commitment to cultivating future generations of farmers. Meet our 2024-25 Secondary Teacher of the Year Tim Yunker, a rockstar Social Studies teacher at Greenbrier West High School. District leaders made a surprise visit to GWHS this afternoon to celebrate Mr. Yunker with students and staff. Tim is a life-long learner who constantly evolves to stay on the cutting edge as an educator! From old-school chalkboards to innovative technology like e-learning and AI, Tim always pushes boundaries to provide his students with a top-notch education. His dynamic lessons and rapport with students prepare them for the future and foster a love for learning. CONGRATULATIONS to our amazing 2024-25 Elementary Teacher of the Year, Liz Dils Wood, a third-grade teacher at Ronceverte Elementary! During a morning surprise ceremony, school students and staff joined Interim Superintendent Clemons, Director of Elementary Education Ann Smith, and Director of Secondary Education Debbie McClintic to celebrate Ms. Dil Wood. Liz is a dedicated educator who has established partnerships with such entities as Lego and General Motors and is a Legend of Learning Ambassador. She has also had the distinction of serving on the state writing and state science committees. Greenbrier County Schools was one of the first counties in WV to offer a technology device for every student 15 years ago. GCS students in grades 5-12 receive take-home devices to increase educational access at home.

April calendar updates! A 3-hour early release is scheduled for Monday, April 8. The 2-hour early release initially scheduled for Thursday, April 25, has been canceled.


Due to a power outage at Alderson Elementary, the afterschool program is canceled for today, Wednesday, April 3. Students will be sent home on their regular bus.

The Greenbrier County Board of Education's regular meeting on April 9 (6 p.m.) will be held at EGMS, as several students will be recognized during Time Out for Applause.
