Fourth-grade students embarked upon a fall field trip to Beartown and Droop Mountain where they learned about the unique geology and wildlife in our area including experiencing a raven's nest under construction. At Droop Mountain, they saw the trenches built by Civil War soldiers for their defense and learned about the local battle that was waged on the mountain. Students enjoyed lunch at Lookout Tower where they were unexpectedly joined by ROTC students from GWHS and GEHS (shown) to top off the afternoon. Everyone had a wonderful time exploring these local landmarks on this beautiful, crisp fall day!
